Who would have thought this about 10 years ago, that I would be out in the woods orienteering? Not many, not even me! But somehow Mr T lured me with him one time and since then we've been out and about once a week every april-june and august-october. This is not directly competing, but more excersice minded, or so they say =). Mr T goes every week and the rest of us as often as possible depending on the situation with work and study.
It's really fun. There are 3 diffrent tracks, the long one that's more difficult too, the middle one and then the short one, which is good for learning to read the map and figuring out the compass. You can guess which one I do, yes, the short one. I got lost a couple of times on the middle track when the boys were younger and they went together ont the short track. After that time when I got lost and Mr T had to come and find me, I changed to the short track. How did he find me, well I happened to have my mobile with me and could call for help, tired and angry and "I'm here on this cliff, near the water in the wood...", well in Parainen there is water everywhere and cliffs... I changed to the short track and have with Mr A concentrated on learing to read the maps and are now doing it quite well as we're not anymore the last ones to arrive. Maybe soon we'll be working on the speed as well...
